Boise State – what should have been
Boise State played in the Las Vegas Bowl last night. Not surprisingly, they destroyed an average Arizona State team, 56-24. This was the last hurrah for the great Kellen Moore. The Broncos and Moore certainly deserved better.
I shared my thoughts on why they were overlooked by the BCS in an earlier post. Why Boise Stae was snubbed by the BCS
Dan levy from Bleacher Report wrote a nice article on how ridiculous it is that Boise was overlooked, and why they had to join the Big East.
Boise State Deserved Better: A BCS Rant
Was it really a Dangerfield case of “no respect?” I don’t really think so.
I think more than anything, it was a simple matter of economics. Let’s face it. College Football is a business. And whoever is deciding what will generate the most revenue is not in favor of Boise State. Those decision makers largely live on the East Coast.
I don’t like the system as it stands. As a sports purist, I would love to see a day when the best teams play each other for the biggest games. That doesn’t seem like too much to ask, but until the sports world is based on sports rather than revenue, I will just keep dreaming.
