Needless to say, this past weekend in college football only reinforced how unfair the BCS system is. We saw Ok. State destroy Oklahoma only to be told, “way to go boys – now go play in the final of the loser’s bracket against Stanford.” We also saw Boise State get totally ripped off and lose a shot at a BCS game to Virginia Tech, even after the Hokies were obliterated by Clemson on Saturday. And then amazingly, TCU was unable to climb two lousy spots in the polls to get into the top 16 and lay claim to the automatic non-AQ conference champion bid. This spot would have been available since one of the auto qualifying teams (West Virginia from the Big East) was ranked lower than 16. The Big East putting a team in the BCS for the past couple years has been an absolute joke. Anyways, we shouldn’t be surprised any more.

Despite all the nonsense, there was one really cool event that took place during half time of the SEC championship game on Saturday. We’ve all seen these “kick a field for a million bucks” type contests. The one during halftime of Georgia/LSU was a throwing contest between two girls. Whoever got the most footballs into a giant Dr. Pepper bottle was guaranteed to win $100,000 in tuition. Great gesture toward the winning student and great PR for DP. You can’t lose with these things. Not only did Dr. Pepper win but they received the endorsement of a life time.

Dr. Pepper

It was really a great moment for the girl and live TV gold. What’s even better is the other clip I found on YouTube with the scintillating Dr. Pepper Latin music track set to Saturday’s events. You guys all know the commercial I’m talking about. They’ve played it about 50 times a game on practically every game I’ve watched this year. Everyone heading down to the flood wash or wherever they are and the scene is off the hook and everyone enjoying DP.

Let’s have a real good time
