Cougars Officially Tank Their Season

BYU failed to show up again for what proved to be a very winnable game against a quality opponent in TCU. After a bye this week, the Cougars will finish out the season against 2 cream puffs at home and then go on the road to play Hawaii.

BYU will likely finish 8-4 or 9-3 and probably beat a less than stellar opponent in the Armed Forces Bowl. (unless their opponent turns out to be SMU who would be playing at home)

There just isn’t much left to cheer about if you’re a Cougar fan. On top of that, you’ve now seen what your future looks like at quarterback – a great athlete who can make plays but does not possess the talent to make all the necessary throws. Riley Nelson will certainly help you beat up on lesser opponents but I’m not sure I trust his arm to beat the likes of Georgia Tech, Boise State, Utah and Notre Dame next year. Perhaps Jake Heaps won’t transfer and he finds himself over the summer. He does still have a rocket arm. Heaps just seems to have been buried by the coaching staff for the remainder of this year.

Have a look at the following link. I think Brett Richens of Deep Shades of Blue perfectly captures the state of the BYU football team. He explains the ramifications of the loss on Friday night and if you read between the lines the same way I do – he’s saying what we’re all thinking…….
